Course Description:

This course will describe the treatment of periodontal disease with Lasers. The pros and cons and numerous case presentations with long term follow up will be presented.

Participants will learn:

• Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy

• The steps in laser therapy and treatment indications

• Numerous other applications of Lasers including treating Periimplantitis

About Dr. Hobbs:

Dr. Hana Hobbs is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has over 20 years of Dental and Periodontal experience. Dr. Hobbs completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in College Park and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Hobbs then completed a General Practice Residency at York Hospital in York PA, and went onto the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) where she earned her Certificate in Periodontology while simultaneously earning a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology.

Dr. Hobbs has operated a highly successful private periodontal practice in Durham (formerly) and now in Hillsborough, NC.  She has been an Assistant Professor at UNC School of Dentistry in the Periodontology Department. Dr. Hobbs served as President of the North Carolina Society of Periodontists in 2014.

She is a recognized leader in her field in Laser Periodontal Therapy and is a speaker for Straumann Dental Implants and Fotona Twin Light Lasers. In 2015, Dr. Hobbs started the Hobbs Spear Study Club and in 2024 started an ITI study club. She very much enjoys the opportunity to interact with great restorative doctors and specialists and has been a member of numerous Study Clubs in the Raleigh/Durham area. 

Dr. Hobbs also volunteers her dental services regularly for the Baptist Mission Dental Bus, Miriam Dental Clinic, and Wake Smiles. Dr. Hobbs has been voted a Top Periodontist by her peers every year since 2010 in Durham, Orange, Cary, and Wake County. She also serves on several committees for the American Academy of Periodontology, including the Insurance Committee and Continuing Education Committee.
