President – Thomas Glazier, D.D.S., M.S.
Hailing originally from Newnan, GA, Dr. Thomas Glazier attended The University of Georgia where he graduated with a B.S. in Biology. He obtained his DDS in 2012 from the VCU School of Dentistry. He then completed a three year residency in 2015 in periodontics, dental implant surgery, and IV conscious sedation where he received a certificate in periodontics as well as a Master’s degree for his clinical trial work on leukocyte-platelet rich fibrin.
He has won several awards throughout his academic training including The Billy M. Pennel Graduate Research Award for Clinical Science, The VCU Graduate Research Award, The Preston D. Miller, Sr. Scholarship for Excellence in Predoctoral Periodontics, and dental student awards from both The American Academy of Periodontology and The American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
He is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology and is an active member of The American Academy of Periodontology, The Virginia Society of Periodontology, The American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and The Richmond Dental Society.
He currently maintains a private practice in Richmond, VA with Drs. Chris Richardson and Ben Overstreet. Dr. Glazier performs all aspects of comprehensive periodontics and dental implant surgery including oral medicine, periodontal plastic surgery, regeneration, and dental implant placement. His clinical interests include peri-implantitis and soft-tissue regeneration. In his spare time, Dr. Glazier enjoys music and spending time with his wife, Lauren, and their 6 year old goldendoodle named River.
President-Elect – Lillie Pitman, D.M.D.
Originally from northern California, Dr. Pitman practically grew up in a periodontal office. Her first job was front office helper in a practice where her mother worked as a periodontal assistant. She attended Yuba College and the University of Nebraska for undergraduate studies, and received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) and a certificate in public health from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa, AZ.
She achieved dual certification for advanced specialty training in periodontics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. She received the Gerald M. Kramer Scholar Award for Excellence from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation after her residency. She is board certified by the American Academy of Periodontology and is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration, and the Southern Academy of Periodontology. She also belongs to the Virginia Dental Association and the local Rappahannock Valley Dental Society.
She and her husband Dr. Thanos Ntounis maintain a private practice, Synergy Periodontics and Implants in Fredericksburg, VA. They enjoy spending time with thier eight-year-old lab mix rescue named Sophie. In her free time, she can most likely be found doing something active outdoors, reading, or traveling.
Secretary/Treasurer – Lisa Turner, D.D.S.
Dr. Lisa Turner graduated Summa Cum Laude from Old Dominion University where she earned both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Dental Hygiene. After 7 years in clinical practice and as adjunct clinical faculty at ODU’s School of Dental Hygiene, Dr. Turner returned to her hometown, Richmond Virginia. There she completed dental school with honors at VCU/MCV School of Dentistry, was named a Hinman scholar, received the AAP’s dental student award for achievement in Periodontology, and was inducted into the prestigious OKU dental honor society. After dental school, Dr. Turner completed a 3 year residency in Periodontics at VCU. During residency she received the Billy M. Pennel award for her research, which was presented at the 2017 Southern Academy of Periodontics meeting in Sarasota, Florida.
She is a Diplomate and member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Virginia Society of Periodontists, the Richmond Dental Society, and the Richmond Association of Women in Dentistry. Along with serving as Secretary/Treasurer for the VSOP, she serves as a delegate for the Virginia Dental Association.
